Buy it once, and only if you need it.

You can make excellent soap with a supermarket's oils, a stainless pot, a cheap stick blender and goggles. These pages are for when you've decided you need something: which one suits the batch you actually make, the specs that decide it, and where the cheapest option is the right one.

How these pages are written

The engine first. Each page starts from the math behind a calculator, so when it says a blender won't stay submerged in your pot, that is your batch's volume over your container's floor, not an impression. Specs come from the maker. Every figure names its source, with a link, and the date it was checked, and where a maker doesn't publish something we say so rather than guess. We don't run product tests of our own; where a page says how something holds up in use, it quotes and links the soapmakers or testers who said it. Cheap wins are named. When the right answer is the cheap option, or the one you already own, the page says so first.

Some links on these pages are affiliate links and earn us a commission at no cost to you; the picks are made on specs, never on commission. How that works.
